About Us

Whizzkids has been in operation since 2002 and has delivered courses and camps to thousands of children across the country. Whizzkids is managed by  Garry Lowe and his wife Derval, both of whom have backgrounds in teaching. They have three children themselves so understand the high standards that we all desire for our children.
Since it’s inception Whizzkids has focussed on delivering training to teens and pre-teens and has always sought fun and innovative ways to pass on IT skills that can be so rewarding as a creative outlet or for a career.
We strive to ensure the highest possible standards and use only qualified teachers in the delivery of our camps and courses. Below are details of the main members of the team.

Garry Lowe, BA, DBS, CTESL- General Manager

Garry graduated from the University of Limerick in 1992 and worked in Aer Lingus for four years. There, by night, he gained his business diploma through the Marketing Institute of Ireland and after that his teaching qualification through Trinity College London.  In 1996, he commenced his teaching career and taught for four years in the Technical Studies Institute in Abu Dhabi. On his return to Ireland in 2001 he provided one to one tuition before establishing Whizzkids in 2002. He delivers training to schools and clubs throughout the year and in the summer he supports the camp supervisors and oversees the smooth running of all summer camps across the country.

Cerda Carroll M.A., B.A. HDip – Supervisor,

Cérda has both a masters in film studies and a HDip in teaching so initially oversaw the movie-making element of Whizzkids Summercamps for 2 years before becoming a camp supervisor. She has been teaching since 2001 and has been at St. Andrews College, Dublin since 2005.

Joanne Houlihan, BA, HDIP, - Supervisor

Joanne has been with Whizzkids Summercamps since 2005, three years as an instructor and then as a supervisor. During the regular academic year she teaches in the Limerick Tutorial Centre. A native of Waterford, she now resides in Clare and supervises our camps in the West of Ireland.

Derval Lowe, BBS, CTEFL – Office Manager

Although Derval has a teaching qualification, she never entered that field and concentrated on using her business studies qualification. Successful stints with ICT giants Dell, Xerox and O2 give her an excellent pedigree when it comes to identifying the new areas that Whizzkids needs to cover in this ever changing world of technology.

Hi Garry, I think Whizzkids is really great. Shane is really nice and he's really good at explaining even though he never shuts up sometimes.(he admitted it!)I had loads of fun this week and I will definitely be recomending Whizzkids to my friends next year.
