FAQ – Summer Camps
Whizzkids only uses qualified teachers to deliver our courses.

Camps are capped at 60 attendees per week, broken up into three groups of 20. We employ 5 personnel per camp. This is comprised of 3 group leaders, a camp supervisor and a video specialist for each camp. The camps are further supported by the general manager who visits the centres throughout the summer.

Yes the children will be supervised at all times. This includes during lunch and break times.
We implement a buddy system for 9 & 10 year olds so that they will not be alone at any time, e.g. if they need to visit the toilet during class time.

No. Although most children have had some exposure to computers before they attend a Whizzkids summer camp, few will have undertaken any web design work before. Naturally, the older the attendee the quicker their group will proceed, but all will start with a blank sheet and will build their website from scratch.

Groups are organised by age. As web design only comprises one aspect of the day, even if someone is advanced for their age in terms of computing ability we feel they should be with the peers for all the other activities and organise the groups accordingly. Whilst we cannot forecast exactly who will book in any particular week, the 3 groups largely fall into the following categories; 9-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds, 13-15 year olds.

Again, we cannot forecast exactly what numbers will book into any particular week, however the pattern over the years shows approx 60/40 boy/girl breakdown.

No. All equipment is provided for them and each student will have access to their own computer.

Video messages will play a part in the Spy Academy and although each student will have their own PC, for hygiene reasons we ask if you could please bring your own ear/headphones.
You may bring a packed lunch or hot lunches are available for purchase on campus.
As summers can be unpredictable weather wise, we ask that you bring appropriate clothing, i.e. in the event of sunshine, bring plenty of fluids, sun block and hats and rain jackets if it is showery.

Whizzkids summer camps are a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Weather permitting, we will spend plenty of time out in the fresh air. However, if it is wet outside sports are cancelled, we move our movie-making indoors and everyone is kept busy with plenty of alternative spy missions to complete.
